Birthday Boy Jasper

On August 1, Jasper the ferret will turn one year old. His dad is Frisky. Here is that little cutie who has a very short attention span especially when trying to take pictures of him.

On the rabbit front, Yuki and Sophia are now over 3 pounds each.

Yuki and Sophia

I've decided to keep 2 of the baby Flemish giant / Mini-lop mix bunnies, and I've rehomed the 3 others. The ones I'm keeping are two girls who I've named Yuki and Sophia. Yuki is Japanese for snow. Sophia means wisdom, but it's close to the Gujarati word for white, which is Sapheda. That was my original intention for her name, but I've decided on Sophia instead. Yuki is the one with the straight ears, and Sophia has one ear lopped down. Currently they weigh 2 lbs 10 oz.(1190g).

Baby Bunnies Growing Fast... and new bunny

The baby Mini-lop/Flemish giant mix bunnies are growing pretty fast. At the last weighing 3 days ago, when they were 5 weeks old, they averaged 768 grams. The 2 girls are both bigger than the 3 boys. I will be rehoming 3 and keeping two. Also, I got another new bunny. I know, I probably shouldn't have, since I have babies that need homes. The new bunny is an adult male Netherland dwarf named Rex (not to be confused with another breed of rabbit called Rex, which he is not). The reason why I got him is because he was free and he was of the color variety known as Otter which I always wanted.

This one I'm keeping.

Here's Rex! Inny cute?

Rex means "king", and he looks like one sitting on this chair which he thinks is his throne.

The baby Flemish giant / Mini-lop mix "oops" litter is now one month old. They're really cute as you can see by the pictures. They are growing very fast; they now average 602 grams.

Pet of the Day; Daddy Rabbit dies

This is going to be a weekly blog, with new information on the goings on of my pets posted every Tuesday.

All Critters
I had a flea problem, so I administered Revolution to the critters who needed it. They were all the ferrets, and the mama rabbit Vrada. The prairie dogs seem immune to fleas, luckily for them. There is a website, Pet of the Day, where 6 of my pets have been featured in the last 14 years, two in just this last week.

Rabbits
My male Mini-lop rabbit, Gwiyeoun, had an illness for several days, and he eventually passed on to bunny heaven. The vet said it may have been a GI tract issue, and that it's likely it was something he ate. For now on, I will monitor what my bunnies are getting into and make sure they're eating all the right stuff. At least he has passed some offspring on to this world shortly after leaving it. Below are the babies, who are 24 days old now. They weigh an average of 350 grams each. I have 3 males & 2 females (if I was able to determine gender properly).
